How I Designed a Studio Space That Clients (and I) Love — On a Budget
I’m so proud to share that I was featured in the June 2016 edition of NASNPRO (National Aesthetic Spa Network Pro) with an article called “Small Space: Big Ideas.” It was all about how I transformed a tiny treatment room into a warm, welcoming sanctuary — without breaking the bank. I don’t know why I didn’t share it with you sooner!
When I first graduated from esthetics academy and opened Pure Joy Skin Care and Wax Studio in Burlington, WA, I had big dreams… and a small space. I wanted to create a room that was cozy, clean, and calming — not clinical — while still being highly functional for waxing, skin care, and lash services.
In the article, I shared creative, affordable ways to repurpose furniture, source budget-friendly décor, and design a room that reflects your personality and values as a professional. My goal was to help other solo estheticians see what’s possible — even with limited square footage and a modest budget.
Now that my business has grown over the past 12 years, I’ve been able to elevate my treatment room even more. With experience, client feedback, and a stronger vision, I’ve upgraded my space to reflect the calm, professional, and welcoming environment I always dreamed of — and that my clients truly deserve. Every detail has been chosen with care, creating an experience that’s both relaxing and results-focused.
🎯 Whether you’re a fellow esthetician looking for inspiration or a client curious about the care and thought behind my studio, this feature was a milestone in my journey to create a space full of comfort, charm, and joy.
