About Joy Stiers
Licensed Esthetician | Problem Solver | Detail Lover | Builder
When an individual discovers a skill that completes their search for work satisfaction, the job is no longer a job, it’s joy. Spend a few minutes finding out what makes licensed esthetician Joy Stiers tick.
What inspires you?
Commitment and Connection. Like any service we as clients pursue, customer service is often far more detailed and personal when you work with the owner. Running my own studio provides me with the unique opportunity to provide one on one attention to my clients at each critical point - the moment they contact me for the first time, their first studio welcome, the custom advice I provide, and rescheduling their next appointment. I am both humbled, and flattered when my clients tell me they feel cared for.
Can you share a common treatment challenge you face?
Sure! Pure Joy Skin Care and Wax Studio has a very busy waxing schedule, so it makes complete sense that clients occasionally are switching from waxing or experience occasional ingrown hair issues. We discuss how it happens, why it happens and they leave armed with advice, and often product to both treat and eradicate the problem quickly.
You’re a permanent student and an experienced professional. What’s your advice for an aspiring treatment room CEO?
Define what you’re doing in the treatment room and why. A commitment to the client begins with a commitment to yourself. Pure Joy Skin Care and Wax Studio is rooted in an ironclad pledge to do no harm. In order to honor that commitment, I work constantly on the mastery of my craft and all the details encompassed – contraindications, physiology knowledge, offering only the best modalities that adhere to the boundaries of my expertise. Staying focused on bringing dependable excellence to the clients who trust you is a key priority.
I never leave the house without…
My cell phone, a full bottle of water to help stay hydrated and focused, and sunscreen rain or shine!
What’s the best part of your job?
The obvious thrill I see on a client’s face post Brazilian wax, one of my specialties – it never gets old for the client or me! A close second is treating non-cancerous skin anomalies that drive people nuts – eradicating a bothersome benign skin tag or cherry angioma is a pretty big deal that can change how people feel about their appearance. Next, but never last is the skin consultation during my client’s facial treatment. Teaching them how they can treat their skin at home by selecting the proper skin care regimen from my Pure Joy product line.
What’s the most popular treatment at Pure Joy Skin Care and Wax Studio?
Believe it or not…Brazilian and Bikini Waxing!
No proper esthetician interview would be complete without a sneak peek into the skin pro’s favorite. What are your ‘can’t imagine my routine without it’ favorites?
I’m always digging and always test-driving new products, so my favorites can shift, but currently it’s staples from my own skin care line called Pure Joy. My Barrier Repair Sleeping Masque during the winter and my Visibly Moist Toner are always near the top of my list. Did I mention my Pure Joy Solar Defender SPF 30, because that’s not even negotiable?
